To aide transparency most governments release data for public consumption. Being a resident of the United Kingdom, I often browse data.gov.uk for new and interesting data sets.
The mission statement of data.gov.uk is:
“The Government is releasing public data to help people understand how government works and how policies are made. Some of this data is already available, but data.gov.uk brings it together in one searchable website. Making this data easily available means it will be easier for people to make decisions and suggestions about government policies based on detailed information. Hear more about the Government’s Transparency agenda from the Prime Minister.”
I searched for and downloaded UK Traffic Accident Data 2001-2014 (100MB compressed) and wanted to create a Tableau Dashboard that enable users to click and explore without the need of traditional drop down boxes or prompts. Using Tableau Public I have posted this online for all to explore. This is my sixth Dashboard of Tableau public and I have to admit that the process of finding data and creating visualisations is a great way of self improvement.
The full data set can be found HERE
